Disney Adventure: What to Book Before You Sail

What should you book before sailing on the Disney Adventure? The Disney Adventure has more bookable experiences than any other ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and the most popular ones sell out well before sailing. Premium dining at Mike & Sulley’s Flavors of Asia and Palo Trattoria, spa treatments, beverage tastings, and character experiences like the Royal Society for Friendship & Tea should all be booked the moment your booking window opens. Here’s what’s available, what’s worth your time, and what you can skip.

How the Booking Timeline Works

Your pre-booking window depends on your Castaway Club loyalty level:

  • Pearl: 123 days before sailing
  • Platinum: 120 days before sailing
  • Gold: 105 days before sailing
  • Silver: 90 days before sailing
  • First-time cruisers: 75 days before sailing

This staggered system means the most popular experiences — Teppanyaki, Royal Society for Friendship & Tea, prime spa slots — can be claimed by higher-tier guests weeks before first-time cruisers even get access. If this is your first Disney Cruise, that 75-day window is still workable but you need to book the moment it opens.

This is one of the biggest areas where working with an advisor matters. We already know what sells out first and in what order to prioritize.

Premium Dining

The Disney Adventure’s complimentary rotational dining — Navigator’s Club, Animator’s Table, and Animator’s Palate — is included with your cruise and requires no advance booking. But the ship’s two premium restaurants are worth the splurge, and they fill up fast.

Mike & Sulley’s Flavors of Asia

Located on Deck 10 with four distinct dining experiences. This is the standout restaurant on the ship and the hardest reservation to get.

  • Teppanyaki — The most popular option. Prix fixe menu with the full tableside cooking experience. This books out first.
  • Omakase-Style Dinner — A nine-course prix fixe experience. Premium pricing, but this is the ship’s most elevated dining experience.
  • Japanese Steakhouse Dinner — A la carte menu, more flexible and slightly lower price point than Teppanyaki.
  • Sushi & Sashimi — An outdoor experience that can only be booked onboard. Don’t stress about this one in advance.

Our advice: Book the Teppanyaki experience first — it’s the one that sells out. If you’re celebrating a special occasion, the Omakase is worth the premium for an unforgettable meal.

Palo Trattoria

The Disney Cruise Line staple gets a fresh look on the Adventure, inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Luca. Adults only (18+), which makes it a perfect parents’ night out while the kids are at the Oceaneer Club.

  • Dinner — Northern Italian cuisine. If you’ve done Palo on other Disney ships, this version is a step up.
  • Brunch — Available on sea days. Gratuity included in the price.
  • Prima Notte — Embark night only. An Italian wine tasting dinner that’s a great way to start the sailing. This is a one-night-only option, so book it early or miss it entirely.

Our advice: Book Prima Notte for embark night and a regular Palo dinner for your other sea day. Two Palo visits is not excessive on this ship.

Beverage Tastings

Thirteen different tastings are available, all adults-only except the Mocktail Experience (ages 14+). These are social, guided experiences lasting about an hour.

Worth booking in advance:

  • Whiskey Atelier — The premium option and first to sell out. Small group, curated experience.
  • Champagne Tasting — Popular for celebrations.
  • Mixology Class — Interactive and fun. You make your own cocktails.

Fine to book onboard:

  • Beer Tasting, Rum Tasting, and most of the standard tastings are usually available onboard. Don’t burn your pre-booking energy on these unless your group is set on a specific date and time.

For families with teens: The Mocktail Experience (ages 14+) is a great option to make older kids feel included in the “grown-up” experiences.

Spa & Fitness

Infinite Bliss Spa

Open to all guests on Deck 10. Elemis treatments with 1.5-hour appointment slots. The full menu is available on the Navigator app or disneycruise.com.

Our advice: If spa is a priority, book your preferred time slot in advance. Embark day and sea day morning slots go first. The Unlimited Thermal Spa Pass is excellent value if you plan to use the thermal suite more than twice during your sailing.

Fitness Classes

The fitness center on Deck 10 offers group classes with several pass options. The Unlimited Fitness Class Pass is solid value if you’re the type who likes to stay active on vacation. Available starting at just under $50 for the sailing.

Character Experiences & Family Activities

Royal Society for Friendship & Tea

A 90-minute premium character experience on Deck 8. One child plus one adult, with additional children and adults available at a lower per-person rate. This is a magical experience for young kids and consistently one of the highest-rated activities across the fleet.

Our advice: If you have a child between ages 3 and 8 who loves Disney princesses, book this immediately at the 130-day window. It sells out on almost every sailing.

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique & Marvel Style Studio

Both makeover experiences are located on Deck 7 and should be booked in advance. Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique (ages 3-12) is a Disney Cruise classic. Marvel Style Studio (ages 3+) is newer and a hit with kids who prefer superheroes to princesses. Multiple packages are available at booking.

Character Meet & Greets

Most character meets are complimentary and don’t require advance booking. The one exception: Baymax on San Fransokyo Street always requires a reservation through the Navigator app. This is unique to the Disney Adventure — don’t show up expecting a walk-up line.

It’s a Small World Nursery

For families with little ones ages 6 months to 3 years. Half-hour sessions that can be stacked. Book in advance if you want specific evening time slots for a parents’ night out at Palo.

Private Karaoke

Three themed rooms on Deck 7 — Lumiere, The Muses, and Sebastian — each holding 8-10 guests for 1.5-hour sessions. Non-alcoholic beverages and snacks included. At about $135 per room (not per person), this is actually great value for a group activity, especially for multigenerational families traveling together.

Accessibility note: Guests with mobility devices should request the Sebastian or The Muses rooms.

Photo Packages

The Unlimited Photo Package is significantly cheaper when purchased pre-cruise versus onboard — roughly 15-20% savings. If you’re the type of family that wants every character photo and formal night portrait, buy it before you sail. The Private Photo Session is the same price either way.

What the Disney Adventure Has That Other Ships Don’t

This isn’t just another Disney cruise ship. The Adventure is purpose-built as the destination itself — all sailings are 3- and 4-night itineraries entirely at sea from Singapore with no port stops. The ship has seven themed zones including Marvel Landing (with three actual ride attractions, including the first roller coaster on any Disney ship), a Storybook Castle, Toy Story Place with water slides, and San Fransokyo Street. With over 6,700 guest capacity, it’s the largest ship in the Disney fleet.

The sheer volume of things to do means pre-booking isn’t just helpful — it’s essential for the experiences that matter most to your family.

Our Recommendation

Prioritize in this order: Teppanyaki dinner, Royal Society for Friendship & Tea (if you have young kids), Prima Notte at Palo, spa appointments, then Whiskey Atelier or your preferred beverage tasting. Everything else is either available onboard or complimentary. Don’t try to pre-book every hour of your sailing — leave room to explore the seven themed zones, ride the attractions at Marvel Landing, and let the ship surprise you.
